Artist statement:- The way I paint is not realist in the conventional sense. Although it has realistic elements, it conveys matters beyond the reality we see in nature into the spiritual, in the realm of faith. "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. It comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God". The Source of my inspiration is the word of God (the Holy Bible,) and the guiding principle, the creative force is the Spirit of God, Which lives in me by faith. His glorious gift...to God (in Jesus Christ) be all the Glory!" About the artist. Yisehak's artistic talent was made apparent at the tender age of seven. Since then, his education and work remains centered around his faith and artistic talent. Yisehak was first inspired by his grand mother, Princess Welete-Israel Seyuom. As a devout Christian, without any formal art education produced and dedicated spiritual paintings to the church. Perhaps because of the traumatic experience of being uprooted from his native land and the separation from his parents forced upon him by the 1974 revolution, Yisehak' s work reflects a strong feeling for human condition. Yisehak obtained his Bachelors of Art degree from the Rhode Island School of Design in 1988, majoring in illustration. He currently resides in Northern California, with his wife Asqual and two daughters Edjig, and Lissan. He works in two and three dimensional design, and in a wide verity of medium. He also accepts work on commission. |
